RIYADH — Dr. Majed Bin Abdullah Al-Muneef was on Monday appointed Secretary General of the Supreme Economic Council (SEC). A Royal Order issued here by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah said Al-Muneef would replace Saud Bin Saleh who was relieved of his post upon his request. The changes shall be carried out with immediate effect, said the Royal Order. The Riyadh-based SEC is headed by the king and sets and oversees national economic policies and coordinates among government entities. Its members include the ministers of finance, petroleum and foreign affairs. Al-Moneef has served on the SEC's advisory board since 1999. — SG
