JEDDAH — A scintillating century by Attaullah helped MHA trounced IBS, while Butt Sports humbled Al-Ghudaid and Dessert Warriors triumphed over Al-Barooj in the 4th week of action in the Jotun League here recently.
The league is being sponsored by Jotun Paints Saudi Arabia and organized by Jeddah Cricket Association.
The first encounter in the league saw Butt Sports defeat Al-Ghudaid by seven wickets. Al-Ghudaid, batting first, was bowled out for a paltry score of 102. Junaid (4-20), Tariq (3-17) Abdul Rahman (2-16) were almost unplayable on the day. In reply, Butt Sports lost two quick wickets, but Jameel 27 (5x4) and Umar with an unbeaten 30 (4x4) saw the team through for a 7-wicket win. Osama took all the 3 wickets to fall for 27 runs.
The second match saw Desert Warriors beat Al-Barooj by five wickets. Al Barooj scored 181 runs in its allotted overs. Arif Hashmi and Tahir provided an opening-wicket stand of 90 runs. Arif scored 39 (6x4), while Tahir hit 74 (10x4, 3x6). Abdul Quddus claimed 4-35 and Kumar 2-20. In reply, Desert Warriors reached the target of 182 for the loss of five wickets. Masiullah scored 53 off 38 balls (7x4), while Razi Aziz hit 53 off 28 balls (9x4) to put on 102 runs. Rizwan and Hamid had identical figures of 2-25 each.
In the third match, MHA trounced IBS by 85 runs. Batting first, MHA posted a mammoth total of 248 runs. Attaullah played a scintillating knock of 128 off 46 balls (10x4, 9x6). He hit the bowlers to all parts of the ground at will. He was ably supported by Ali, who hit 32 (2x4, 2x6). Qaisar took 5-35, while Shad chipped in with 2-16. In reply, IBS was bundled out for 163. Ali 37 (3x6, 2x4) and Qaisar 36 (2x4, 2x6) did the bulk of the scoring, while Khalid added 19. Attaullah after batting brilliantly also shone with the ball, taking 3-21. Amir and Noor Alam took two wickets each for 16 and 25 runs, respectively, to give their team an 85-run win.
