DUBAI Chamber of Commerce and Industry received a high-profile Saudi delegation headed by Adnan H. Mandourah, Secretary General, Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the chamber premises recently. The visit came in line with efforts of both chambers to take their bilateral ties to a higher level as well as to exchange expertise and work jointly in mutual areas of interest. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, who received the delegation, discussed means of enhancing trade cooperation between the business communities of Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Buamim said the Saudi delegation visit led to exchange of expertise and sharing of vital information which will work in favor of both the sides to further cooperate for the smooth flow of trade between their two countries. He reaffirmed Dubai Chamber's commitment to provide all the support to the Jeddah Chamber in passing on the expertise and information about his Chamber's initiatives and services that help in raising the competitive of its members and stakeholders in the regional and global markets. Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber apprised the visitors with the Chamber's various business stimulating initiatives, while also updated them with last year's trade figures which showed Saudi Arabia to be the top-most trading partner for Dubai Chamber members in the GCC market. Emphasizing on the trade growth between Dubai and Saudi Arabia, Nasib informed that exports and re-exports of Dubai Chamber members to Saudi Arabia grew by 27 percent and valued at AED71.6 billion in 2012, compared to the year 2011, which are clear signs of a strong trade partnership between the two countries. The Commercial Services Sector's Senior Director informed that Dubai Chamber is committed to extend all cooperation and work jointly with other GCC chambers for the enhancement of trade in the region. Mandourah said that Saudi Arabia emerging as the leading export destination for Dubai Chamber members is good news and added that he looked forward to enhanced trade ties between the two countries. Mandourah expressed his chamber's desire in learning more from the Dubai Chamber initiative of Centre for Responsible Business and the implementation of ATA Carnet in his country. — SG
