The delegates of the Dubai and Jeddah chambers of Commerce and Industry, who met in Dubai recently, discuss ways of strengthening trade-ties. Dubai – In an effort to seek a strong cooperation, the chambers of Commerce and Industry of Dubai and Saudi Arabia met in Dubai recently and discussed various ways of creating a favorable business environment between the two important GCC members. Atiq Juma Nasib, senior director, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber, received the Saudi delegation which was headed by Adnan H. Mandourah, secretary general of Jeddah chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting dealt with various business-stimulating initiatives that would help raise the competitiveness of Dubai businesses in the global market. Reiterating his commitment to strengthen cooperation, Juma Nasib said the visit would enhance trade-ties between Dubai and Saudi Arabia. “The Dubai Chamber is committed to extend all cooperation and work jointly with other GCC chambers for the enhancement of trade in the region,” he said. Emphasizing the need to share expertise between the two chambers, he said. “The similarities between Dubai and Jeddah chambers leave a lot of scope for the two to consolidate trade ties. “The 2011 exports and imports between Dubai and Saudi Arabia valued at AED 59.3b, grew by 17% as compared to 2010,” he said. Adnan H. Mandourah said the idea behind the visit is to get an insight into Dubai's business projects. “The doors of opportunities for the Emirate's businesses in the Saudi market, especially in the areas of construction, infrastructure and manufacturing are opening by the day,” he said. “The investment prospects for Saudi businesses in Dubai are brilliant.” Dubai Chamber received delegations from Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Saudi Federation of Chambers of Commerce earlier. They visited Jeddah and Riyadh as part of the road show to promote the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference held last October in Dubai. Expressing his gratitude to the Dubai chamber for its support, Mandourah extended an invitation to the Dubai businesses to attend the Jeddah International Economic Forum due to be held in March in the Saudi Port City.
