RIYADH — The Technical and Vocational Training Commission (TVTC) and Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors (Jaguar and Land Rover) signed here Saturday a memorandum of understanding to enroll 200 of TVTC graduates in special training program for maintenance of Jaguar and Land Rover luxury cars.
The event was held in the presence of TVTC Governor Dr. Ali Nasir Al Ghafees.
Under the agreement, after 18 months of specialized training in English language, computer, and different aspects of Jaguar and Land Rover car maintenance, successful trainees will end up with employment at different divisions of Mohamed Yousuf Motors.
The MOU was signed by the Vice Governor of TVTC for Training, Dr Hamad bin Agla Al Agla, and Vice President of Luxury Cars at Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors Engineer Anis Abdulgaleel Jamjoom. The signage was attended by the Commercial Counselor and the Director of Trade and Investment at the British Embassy in Riyadh, Chris Innes-Hopkins.
“It is a happy moment to witness the signage of this MOU and we appreciate very much the initiative of Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors to train this number of young Saudis, gradates of TVTC. This initiative reflects the trust and confidence of our Saudi prestigious companies in the capabilities of these youth in their way for Saudization,” Dr Al Gafees said at the ceremony.
Dr Al Agla said that according to this MOU, 200 trainees of TVTC graduates will be initially trained for the maintenance of the luxury cars of Jaguar and Land Rover though a special vocational training program ends with employment.
“The graduate of the training program will be employed at different division of the Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, as car reception engineers, mechanics, car repairs, maintenance specialist, spare parts vendor, car body tin smiths, and painters,” he said.
Commending the role of TVTC in preparing the Saudi youth according to the needs of the labor market, Jamjoom assured that his company will provide all the means to make this MOU a success.
“According to this memo, the program will select a number of TVTC (graduates) for receiving specialized training as trainers in car maintenance, in particular luxury cars like Jaguar and Land Rover, and qualified to train Saudi enrollees in the program,” he pointed out.
“The training that these prospective trainers will learn is designed by the mother company of Jaguar and Land Rover and approved by the IMI institute, one of the largest specialized car training institutions in Britain,“ he added.British Commercial Counselor Innes-Hopkins said “I think with this MOU, … the partner in the Kingdom (will) be able to contribute in a very good way to train young Saudi apprentices the necessary skills to work in motor industry. I think a number of our UK investors are going to do similar thing to support Saudization drive.”
He pointed out that strong emphasis should be put on skills rather than theoretical and academic aspects of training.
