The Tourism and Culture Authority, Abu Dhabi (TCA-AD) will organize the Qasr Al Hosn Festival on Feb. 28 to March 9, 2013. Boasting a program filled with events, workshops, activities and a unique show (created by the legendary producer Franco Dragone), the entire festival has been specifically designed to reflect over two and a half centuries of Emirati and Abu Dhabi history. The Qasr Al Hosn Exhibition reflects the history of Abu Dhabi by shedding light on the fort's historical significance as well as leaderships' role in emphasizing sovereignty and influence within the region. The exhibition will also feature a collection of video memories and artefacts depicting the nation's history. On this occasion, Faisal Al Sheikh, Qasr Al Hosn Festival Director, and Events Manager at Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, said: “The festival is an important addition to Abu Dhabi's event calendar and it is with great pride that we can now announce the details of this iconic celebration of Qasr al Hosn.” Al Sheikh added: “Qasr al Hosn is of immense historical and cultural importance. Standing here for more than two and a half centuries, Qasr al Hosn is the symbolic birthplace of Abu Dhabi. The fort played a fundamental role in the capital's past whilst at the same time safeguarding its long and prosperous future. This year's festival is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate Emirati history, culture and tradition.” Al Sheikh stressed on the importance of creativity and cultural heritage of the festival, saying: “This festival will take visitors through a historic journey, weaving through the experiences of our ancestors and retelling the many stories that make Abu Dhabi's past so fascinating. The Festival is a public event like nothing seen before and will be full of interactive, cultural, educational and creative events. The Qasr Al Hosn festival offers an entirely new way for the many proud sons and daughters to engage with Abu Dhabi's rich cultural past,” he said. — SG
