Saudi Gazette report TABUK — The man who stabbed his father to death in Al-Murjan neighborhood of Tabuk has claimed that he committed the crime due to unresolved disputes with him. Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learned that investigations conducted by the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) revealed that the suspect was planning the crime for more than six months. Spokesman for Tabuk police Maj. Khalid Al-Ghabban said the police then received a call from King Fahd Hospital about a victim who had been stabbed and admitted to the emergency unit. The victim, in his 60s, later succumbed to his injuries. His son confessed to the crime and was arrested. During questioning, the suspect claimed that his father's oppression and refusal to help him marry were the reasons that prompted him to take the extreme step. The man in his 40s stabbed his father 12 times in the face, neck and chest. He is the eldest son in the family and worked as a private security guard. He is a confirmed drug addict. Residents of the neighborhood where the crime took place said that the accused is mentally disturbed, and has had many disputes with a number of his relatives and neighbors. In the wake of the horrendous crime, sociologists have cautioned against increasing filial ingratitude in Saudi society. It is a dangerous trend that must be dealt with to preserve society's cohesiveness, they say.
