Khaled Al-Jabri Okaz/Saudi Gazette MADINAH – The General Presidency of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Hai'a) has told its branches in the Kingdom not to request any official document or inquire about any regulation from any government department unless they talk to the presidency's legal department first. In a letter to its branches, a copy of which Okaz has obtained, the Hai'a said some of the branches send written inquiries directly to government departments or request an official document without referring to the presidency first, which is a breach of the presidency's regulations. Therefore, no inquiries should be sent to any government department unless a letter is sent to the presidency's legal department first. If the legal department does not reply to the inquiry, then the presidency will contact the government department on an official basis itself. Sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the presidency's letter is part of its attempts to organize the work and unify procedures for all its branches and administrations. Meanwhile, the presidency has sent a circular to all its branches not to assign administrators in any of the Hai'a branches for overtime work on Thursdays and Fridays because this violates civil service regulations.
