MADINA: Police patrols on Thursday ended a fight involving a member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Hai'a, an employee of the Saher system's operating company who was accompanied by his brother. The fight started when the Saher system took a photo of a Hai'a member who was speeding in a Commission car on Al-Jameaat Road, according to the police. Bassam Al-Harbi, the company's employee, said the Hai'a member was driving an official car and speeding so the camera took his photo. The driver became very angry and demanded evidence, Al-Harbi said. “I told him that his car is the evidence, and he replied, ‘Why are you not praying?,' because it was the time of prayer. I said I had official letters from the operating company instructing us to pray at the location where we are stationed and I presented him a copy of the letter.” Al-Harbi claims that the Hai'a member slapped him on the face and that he reacted by doing the same to him. Okaz/Saudi Gazette could not reach the Hai'a member or a Hai'a spokesman for comment. The Saher employee said his brother was attacked when he tried to diffuse the situation. “My brother happened to be present at the time, his clothes were torn by the Hai'a member when he tried to stop the fight and that's when I called the traffic police,” he said. “A police patrol with an officer was sent to the location and the case was referred to police.” Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam, spokesman for Madina Police, said officers received a report about a fight between a Hai'a member a two people and one of whom was a Saher employee. The case is with Al-Aziziya Police Station, he added.
