Abdulrahman Al-Ali Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Makkah Passport department has detained a group of residency and work permit violators as part of a dedicated campaign. The 70 suspects were detained in the city's Al-Jamiah neighborhood and a number of ready-to-sell fruit and vegetable boxes were confiscated. Stalls that sold French fries and other consumables were also confiscated. A number of illegal maids were also arrested. The neighborhood was being monitored due to reports of suspicious activities involving illegal residents there. They infiltrated the country and took up residence in this low-income crowded neighborhood. During the raid, passports officers were also stationed on rooftops to prevent the suspects from escaping. All suspects were referred to the authorities for further action.
