Jeddah Passports Department forces raided several houses in Al-Safa District which were being used as shelters for runaway housemaids while others as brothels. Several undocumented workers selling rotten fruits and vegetables were also arrested in the same district. Several of the runaway maids said they had been encouraged by Asian men to run away from their sponsors for better pay and working hours. These men usually wait outside certain malls in Jeddah and approach maids and try to convince them to quit their jobs. For a fee, they help them escape and find better-paying jobs. Inside one of the raided houses, forces found 25 illegal workers who hail from an Arab country. Most of them were selling rotten fruits and vegetables to the public. In another house, several East Asian women were arrested for engaging in illicit practices. __
