Tabuk's head of Traffic Police has said that Saturday will see undercover patrols sent out to stop teenagers joyriding and stunt driving during the school examination period. Traffic chief Mohammed Al-Najjar said that 52 marked and unmarked patrol cars will be stationed at road junctions, schools and areas known to be popular with the younger generations. Al-Najjar added that he also had at his disposal a “support team” of three officers and a group of other individuals to provide back-up on Monday and Thursday. “We'll be showing no leniency to anyone breaking traffic laws, and especially people racing cars and doing stunts” he said. “Vehicles will be impounded and drivers detained.” Al-Najjar also appealed to parents to “keep an eye on your offspring” and ensure that they abide by the law and “don't get involved with teenagers calling them to go and see or take part in stunt driving and skidding”.
