JEDDAH — Rakhshanda Puri, a social activist, assisted some girls of Pakistan International School, Jeddah, by donating their school fees. The tuition fees was handed over to the school's Vice Principal Rukshanda Mehmood. The money was collected at the recent function “Helping Hands - Ladies Event,” organized by Puri at a local restaurant. An interesting cultural show was also staged during the ceremony. The event was staged to help the needy students of the community. Fauzia Salik Khan, wife of the Consul General of Pakistan, was the chief guest and Imrana Siddiqui was the guest of honor. The community appreciated this effort very much and prominent ladies of the different section of the society enthusiastically participated in the event. Bintul Hasan, senior teacher of the school, conducted the proceedings. The program began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Amina Asif. In her opening remarks Puri welcomed the guests and outlined the aims of Helping Hands. Noor Almaas and Nilo Shahid sang ghazals and geets, while Bintul Hasan and Tabussum Alvi recited poetry. Hiba Mirza held an abaya show and Ayesha Sabiha Sharif presented her dresses sponsored by Al Hamd Textiles. Kubra Akbar and Kulsoom Akbar took part in a variety show. Many ladies won lucky draw prices. The chief guest appreciated the programs and hoped that this philanthropic effort is continued. She said that although she is leaving Jeddah in a short time, she would always cherish the Jeddah community. The vice principal, in her address, thanked the organizers and the participants for their efforts in making the event a success. In her closing remarks, Puri thanked the chief guest and those who attended the program. She specially thanked Bintul Hasan, Hummera Choudry, Nazneen, Afreen Yousuf, Nabila Lodhi and Shahida Ameen.
