MANILA — Dingdong Dantes was named Best Festival Actor for the second year in a row at the 38th Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) Awards Night last Thursday. The actor, who won for his role in “One More Try,” was proclaimed the winner before the announcement of the Best Actress award, which went to veteran actress Nora Aunor for the movie “Thy Womb.” But he gave his acceptance speech after she had delivered hers. Dantes, 32, arrived late to the ceremonies because he came from taping in Tagaytay City. Unlike last year, however, he was able to personally receive his award at the Meralco Theater. He previously won for his role in “Segunda Mano,” another Star Cinema film. “One More Try” also won the following awards: Best Picture, FPJ Memorial Award, Best Child Star (Miguel Vergara), Best Editing (Vito Kahili), and Best Screenplay (Anna Ramos). — SG
