RIYADH – Egyptian expatriates living in the Kingdom started casting their votes in the country's constitutional referendum on Wednesday. Polling stations on the premises of Egyptian diplomatic missions in Riyadh and Jeddah will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the four-day voting that will end Saturday evening. Nearly half of 589,000 Egyptian expatriates eligible to take part in the referendum are in the Kingdom. As many as 261,924 Egyptians living the Kingdom have voter registrations. The voters can also avail of the postal ballot facility during the four days of polling. Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom Afeefi Abdul Wahab said all arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the voting. He urged all eligible voters to cooperate with the embassy by abiding by the directives of the Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC). He said electioneering on embassy premises is banned and votes of those who engage in such practices will be considered invalid. Afeefi also warned people against trying to vote on behalf of others. Those who cannot present themselves at the voting stations have to rely on postal ballots, he added.
