Abdul Rahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – A former Saudi convict is suing the Jeddah Administrative Court after it allegedly delayed sending his release papers to the prison where he was incarcerated, meaning he had to spend three extra months in jail after serving his sentence. The man, who was jailed for four months for providing shelter to an illegal worker who turned out to be his uncle, told the judge the court failed to send his release papers on time. Police caught his uncle without an iqama (residency permit) while he was driving his car and later arrested the young man and referred him to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. The judge told the man that the court does not handle such cases but added that he admired his determination to obtain compensation for the extra days he spent in prison. He advised the man on how and where to file his lawsuit.
