JEDDAH — A 15-member Saudi-Indian Business Network (SIBN) delegation, led by Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, has successfully completed its Delhi leg of the group's visit. The delegation had a fruitful engagement with E. Ahamed, Minister of State for the External Affairs Ministry, who hosted a lunch in its honor. Among those present were Saudi Ambassador to India Saud Mohammed A Al-Sati and A R Ghanashyam, Joint Secretary (Gulf & Haj) in the Ministry of External Affairs, India. In a meeting that followed, S. Jagathrakshakan, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, told the delegation about the economic development in India and the recent policy measures taken by the Indian government to attract foreign investment. He invited Saudi businessmen to invest in India by taking advantage of the new policy initiatives. India Islamic Centre (IIC) also hosted a dinner for the delegation. Sirajuddin Qureishi, President of IIC, welcomed the delegates and drew its attention to various business opportunities in India. The delegation also visited the Rashtrapati Bhawan - the official residence of the President of India - which was arranged by Faiz Ahmad Kidwai, Consul General of India. In a meeting with Vishnu P Das, Chairman, National Buildings & Construction Corporation of India, the chairman expressed their interest in investing in Saudi Arabia. Later, the delegation held talks with Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd., (JSPL), and also a member of Parliament. Jindal briefed the visiting group about the company's strength and diversified investments across continents, noting that the company would be keen to invest in iron and steel sector in Saudi Arabia. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), one of the leading business organizations in India, had arranged B2B meetings and dinner for the delegation. J K Arora, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Supreme Alloys Ltd. welcomed the delegates. A presentation on the state of Indian economy and policy reforms was given. CII invited the SIBN to take part in the Global Partnership Summit to be held in Agra in January 2012. CII would participate in the upcoming Indo-GCC conference to be held in Jeddah on Feb. 19- 21, 2013. The delegation also had a meeting with Executive Director of the Bhaskar Group, Dr. Bharat Agarwal, aside from Ashwani Jolly, Vice President of TDI Group, which is into real estate development. Dr. Faysal Alaquil, Director of Business Development & Head of CSR, CPC Holdings, discussed the possibility of setting up a joint venture with TDI Estates for Development of industrial Zone in India and establishment of one-point building material channel. — SG
