JEDDAH — The public and private health sectors in the Kingdom have stopped using the Agrippal and Fluad vaccine used against the seasonal flu. The decision was made after a report by the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority (SFDA) indicated that the vaccine causes dangerous complications. The Ministry of Health has ordered that the vaccine immediately be withdrawn from the market. Novartis Pharmaceutical Co. which manufactures the vaccine said on its website the Italian Drug Authority had lifted a temporary ban on the vaccine when the company provided the authority with additional information.
