The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has canceled the registration of Alupent Orciprenaline Sulphate Syrup because “of its dangerous effect on the heart.” The committee in charge of the registration of pharmaceutical companies at the Ministry of Health has revoked the registration of this drug and taken it off the shelves of pharmacies in the Kingdom. The SFDA has asked the manufacturing company to remove all available quantities of the drug in the interest of public health and has urged doctors to prescribe alternative medicines to patients using the drug. The SFDA has asked consumers to visit its website www.sfda.gov.sa for further information about the latest development in the field of medicines.
