TABUK — Customs inspectors at Al-Hudaitha customs checkpoint in conjunction with Border Guard patrols detained a customs clerk for trying to smuggle into the country 1 million Captagon pills and SR1 million in cash. While the clerk was conducting a search the contraband fell out of his coat's pocket. He immediately headed to his car and drove off at high speed through all the barriers. After a chase, the customs inspectors with help of the Border Guard patrols managed to arrest him. On searching his car, they found the narcotic pills and the cash. In another incident at Al-Hudaitha, customs officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle in 1 million Captagon pills after hiding them in truck tires. Zaid Al-Zaid, chief customs officer at Al-Hudaitha, said the contraband was hidden in small plastic bags kept inside two tires. The driver was handed to the anti-narcotics authorities.
