Young man to be lashed, fined for having girl in backseat

JEDDAH — A 24-year-old man found himself in trouble after he was caught with a girl in the backseat of his car, Al-Madinah newspaper has reported.
He was sentenced to 35 lashes and a SR2,000 fine.
The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Hai'a) found the young man and the girl sitting in the back of his car, the front and rear windows of which were tinted.
The young man expressed remorse over what happened and promised the judge he would never do such a thing again. He also signed an agreement not to repeat the offense.
The judge found the young man's criminal record to be clean. He ordered for the SR2,000 fine to go to a charity in Jeddah. — SG
