JEDDAH – Master English in affiliation with the London Teacher Training College (LTTC) organized a comprehensive and assessment-based course “Certificate in teaching IELTS (International English Language Testing System)” for teachers on Nov.8 at the Movenpick Hotel here. English language teachers and instructors from various universities and schools attended the course. Fatmah Azam Ali, CEO of Master English, said that just as any other profession requires continuous professional development, teachers too need CPD (Continuous Professional Development) courses that will help them renew the forgotten concepts, retain the present information and learn more about the new teaching strategies and methodologies. She also said that Master English continuously strives to provide qualitative courses from LTTC for teachers residing here. All courses undertaken by teachers are assessed by LTTC and they are trained to meet there standards. On successful completion of a course participants are issued a certificate. The teaching IELTS course was headed by Ragia Magd Eldin, a highly qualified teacher trainer. She is teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at the American University in Egypt and King Abdulaziz University (KAU) here. She enthusiastically delivered the contents of course alongside interacting with the participant teachers. Magd Eldin told Saudi Gazette that she had a wonderful experience training the group, adding that overall the event was well-organized and in the future she would like to participate in more such events. She also expressed gratitude for Ali and others who supported her at the event. Imrana Rafat Hasan, an English instructor at KAU, said: “The workshop was a wonderful experience and truly enlightening. Although it was for eight hours, it wasn't tiring at all. I hope to benefit from this workshop and I congratulate Master English for organizing such a (beneficial) workshop like this.” Rula Dili, a grade 12 teacher at Al Hamra International School, said that the course helped her understand IELTS better. “It was a good experience to attend the workshop in Jeddah. It brought about awareness that IELTS is not inaccessible to teach our students if the teachers are well-trained,” said Sadiqa Aziz Merchant, an English Instructor at Effat University.
