Ronaldo Z. Concha Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Sixty Filipinos in Jeddah graduated from the recently concluded 31st computer literacy seminar conducted by the OFW Cooperative Council, the organizers said. The graduation was held on the first day of Eid holiday and was attended by Philippine Consulate Consul General Uriel Norman Garibay. Robert Perez Jr., OFWCC Chairman for Training and Education, said the 31st batch has shown remarkable unity when they elected their class officers headed by class President Richard Halili. The course was held on eight consecutive Fridays from Aug. 31 to Oct. 19 at La Parilla Restaurant near Jeddah International Market. The courses included Basi Computer Operation, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint , Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Perez emphasized the need for OFWs to continue learning new skills that would make them competitive in the labor market.
He also reminded the graduates that their journey in learning had just started and requested them to keep their passions for learning alive. Garibay emphasized that what they accomplished in eight Fridays will empower them to face many challenges that lie ahead. Due to the success of the program Perez, who is also the council's vice chairman, announced that the next computer literacy seminar is tentatively scheduled in February 2013. Details of the seminar will be posted by December, he added.
