RIYADH — Intensity 12 clinched the Bayanihan Cup Team Tennis Challenge crown after four weeks of grueling competition at the Al-Yamamah Tennis Courts here recently. The team was composed of Jonathan del Pilar (captain), Gil Gasca, Emmanuel Fabria, Dexter Salona, Rodel Lanuza, Jojo Balisi, Juan Paulo Guiao, Roger Matira, Bong Matutina (co-captain), Gifard Oloan, Boy Rogel and Bong Cardino. The Intensity 12 Team reaped a total of 41 sets and 433 game points during the tournament after upsetting Tennis Warriors Team during the championship game in their bid to capture the crown. The efforts of Bigaten Team, which earned 38 sets and 429 game points, were not enough to maneuver the champion, but earned the 1st runner-up for the team. Frank Orias (captain), Rey Javier (co-captain), Willy Nicolas, Joemari Machitar, Albin Guinto, Nick Lozada, Ed ‘Buba' Gangat, Ronnie ‘Jigs' Gadiano, Ferdinand Liwanag, Voltaire Urdaneta, Yunuz Ong and AbdulJaleel Abdurraheem made up the team. D'Lieutenants Team took the 2nd runner-up trophy having earned 37 sets and 433 game points. The team was led by Eric Villano (captain) and comprised Hermie Soliven (co-captain), Raffy Uy, Serge Ariola, Froilan de Vera, Dong Calub, Mar Sawadjaan, Ritchie Hernandez, Lope Tubio, Ed Briagas, Jun Suacito and Alimar Singkay. Centenciadores Team, recipient of four consecutive Team of the Week awards managed to land the 3rd runner-up spot after securing 37 sets and 414 game points. Members of the team were: Tony Fernandez (captain), Joebert Ang (co-captain), Jully Manacap, Ricky Ortega, Anthony Guiao, Fidel Ferrer, Nelson Barcenas, Dodie Vizcarra, Rauf Abubandar, Dennis Recio, Jaime Vidante and Teddy Marpuri. The X-Treme Netters Team finished 4th runner-up having earned 36 sets and 433 game points. Jun Aguilar (captain), Jad Adriano (co-captain), Jun Rafuson, Gerome Corpuz, Wilson Petalcorin, Nestor Pepito, Ramon Eugenio, Odie Fontamillas, Omar Taha, Ronaldo Zabala, Fred Halog and Zufyan Saynudin made up the team. The Green X-Treme Team made it to the magic six by earning the 5th runner-up spot. The team earned 36 sets and 406 game points. Members of the team were Ed Duco (captain), Dexter Iwayan (co-captain), Mario Torefiel, J'ar Orgasan, Jeff Balisi, Jojo Ingles, Rodel Corros, Jimmy Casas, Lito Salvador, Ferdinand Alarcon and Danilo dela Cruz Jr. Other teams taking part in the tournament were: Teensquad, Tenistang Pinoy, D'Consistence, Tennis Warriors, Top Ten and Ace of Ten. An awarding ceremony was organized at the White Palace Hotel. The Best Players awards were picked up by: Arnel Orda and Bong Bueta of Ace of Ten Team in B1-B2 Category; Jad Adriano and Wilson Petalcorin of X-Treme Netters in B3-B4 Category; Rodel Lanuza and Jojo Balisi of Intensity 12 in B5-B6 Category; Rodel Corros and Ed Duco of Green X-Treme in C1-C2 Category; Rene Balanon and Marquin Napoles of Tennis Warriors in C3-C4 Category; Yunuz Ong and Abdul Jaleel Abdurraheem of Bigaten in C5-C6 Category.
