ABHA – Officials from the Asir municipality reported that a famous restaurant was recently shut down after residents complained workers were preparing food in an apartment complex, according to a report in Al-Madinah newspaper Saturday. “Workers wearing the restaurant's uniforms were found entering and leaving an apartment building with pots of cooked food,” said a municipality inspector. The police were called in and the workers detained while the apartment was raided. Inspectors found the kitchen where the meals were being prepared full of sewage water and infested with insects. Expired food items were also seized. The restaurant was closed and its owner fined as per regulations. The general director of comprehensive monitoring at the municipality said his department would continue to ensure restaurant health and safety codes are not violated. — SG
