RIYADH – A wanted criminal was shot dead by Riyadh police at Al-Naseem neighborhood, according to a statement issued by Riyadh police on Friday. Police officers became suspicious about the movement of a black Chevrolet Lumina. When they asked the driver to pull over, he pulled a gun and fled the scene while his accomplice was arrested. When the police gave chase, the man forced his way into an apartment and held its residents hostage. He even shot at police officers from the window of the apartment, but did not stay long inside. He took to the street while firing nonstop at the pursuing officers. He flagged down another car and ordered the driver to get out so he could flee. However, the officers flattened the tires. Angry at what happened, the man started shooting randomly at the officers and bystanders. He appeared to be drunk, and the officers did not have any other option but to shoot him to protect the public. He was rushed to King Abdulaziz Medical City but was pronounced dead on arrival.
