CAIRO — An Egyptian security chief says a car crash in the country's south has killed 12 members of one family. Gen. Salah Mouzeid says the accident took place early Monday when the minibus the family was traveling in collided with another car near the village of al-Soubayrat, outside the southern city of Qena. Mouzeid says the family members were heading to the Qena prison to visit a relative. Qena is about 465 km south of Cairo. Road accidents are common in Egypt due to badly maintained roads and poor enforcement of traffic laws. Police estimate road accidents kill about 6,000 people annually in the nation with a population of about 82 million. — AP
