Schwartzel misses cut, Grillo leads in Perth

PERTH – South African Charl Schwartzel was the biggest casualty of the cut at the Perth International after hitting four-over-par for his second round on Friday to finish 14 shots behind leader Emilano Grillo.
The 2011 US Masters champion had six bogeys in his round of 76, five of which were on the opening nine, before clawing back two birdies to end with a total of three-over 147 and miss the cut at Lake Karrinyup, north of Perth, by a shot.
Argentine Grillo, chasing his first win as a professional, carded a second-round 67 for a total of 133, four shots ahead of American Bo Van Pelt and Jason Scrivener of Australia.
The 20-year-old tour rookie made two eagles and two birdies at Lake Karrinyup to sit at 11-under 133 and ahead of second-placed Bo Van Pelt (67) and Jason Scrivener (69).
Jason Duffner shot a 67 to be tied for fourth five strokes off the lead with Max McCardle (70) and overnight leaders Alejandro Canizares (73) and Michael Hendry (73).
Paul Casey conceded three bogeys and a double bogey for a 75 to drift out of contention heading into the weekend.
Ramsay in three-shot lead
Scotland's Richie Ramsay birdied four of his closing five holes as he raced into a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Hero Indian Open in Bangalore Friday.
Ramsay, who had shared the overnight lead after the opening round, fired a second successive five-under-par 66 for 10-under-par 132 at the $1.25 million Asian Tour event in southwest India.
Thai duo Panuphol Pittayarat and Chapchai Nirat, who last won on the Asian Tour in India in 2009 where he set a new world 72-hole scoring record of 32-under-par 256, and Jaakko Makitalo of Finland returned with matching 68s to stay within touching distance of Ramsay.
Indian star Gaganjeet Bhullar led the local charge with a round of 69 for tied sixth position and is five shots off the pace at the Karnataka Golf Association course.
Pettersen hits course record
In Incheon, South Korea, Norway's Suzann Pettersen made a blistering start at the LPGA KEB-HanaBank Championship Friday, racking up six birdies on her first nine holes to fire a course-record 63.
Pettersen's bogey-free round gave her a one-shot lead over Karin Sjodin of Sweden on the Ocean Course at the Sky72 Golf Club in South Korea. Five golfers were tied in third at six-under.
South Korea's Ryu So-Yeon is among the group of players on 66, despite taking a penalty stroke on the fourth green.
Defending champion and world No. 1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan was at five-under with four birdies and an eagle against a bogey. — Agencies
