US Open champion Rory McIlroy increased his lead to three strokes after shooting a 7-under 65 in the third round of the Shanghai Masters Saturday. The 22-year-old Northern Irishman made seven birdies in another bogey-free round on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course at Lake Malaren on the outskirts of Shanghai to total 18-under 198. Anthony Kim of the United States moved up a spot to second after hitting three consecutive birdies to close out the front nine and another four on the back nine to match McIlroy's 65. His only misstep was a bogey on the 18th hole. South Korea's Noh Seung-yul was one stroke behind Kim at 14-under after following up his second-round 63 with a 67. Ian Poulter (67) and Hunter Mahan (68) were next at 11 under. Second-ranked Lee Westwood (70) and Geoff Ogilvy (66) were at 7 under, followed by Robert Karlsson (72), Padraig Harrington (73) and Y.E. Yang (68) at 6 under. Bo Van Pelt ahead In Selangor, Malaysia, Bo Van Pelt shot a 4-under 67 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead over fellow American Jeff Overton after the third round of the Asia Pacific Classic. Van Pelt had a 16-under 197 total at Malaysia's Mines Resort and Golf Club in the second-year event sanctioned by the US PGA Tour and the Asian Tour. Overton followed a course-record 62 with a 69 to sit a stroke ahead of Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson (71) and Mark Wilson (67) on 13 under. Three-time major winner Vijay Singh of Fiji and Malaysia's Danny Chia each shot 66s to climb to joint fifth with Jason Dufner of the United States on 202. Defending champion Ben Crane is at 205. Garcia takes lead Fresh from his victory at home in last week's Castello Masters, Sergio Garcia surged into a two-shot lead at the Andalucia Masters with a four-under-par 67 in Saturday's third round. Garcia needs to win again on Sunday to qualify for next week's World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai. With a six-under-par total of 207, he is two shots clear of compatriot Miguel Angel Jimenez (68), who had two eagles, and Swede Christian Nilsson, who equalled the best score of the week with a 65. Scotland's Richie Ramsey, the overnight leader, is three back after closing with two bogeys for a 73 after a day that saw defending title-holder Graeme McDowell toil with an 81. Garcia's round included a bogey six at the 17th, when he had to take off his shoes and socks and roll up his trousers to play his second, which landed in rocks beside a lake.
