Barack Obama has almost completed four years as president of the United States, the only superpower in the world. During this period, the US administration has not made any positive international initiative toward achieving world peace or saving the world's people from hunger. The focus of the entire US effort has been to protect its strategic interests, even if it means shedding the blood of people. In the 2008 US presidential election campaign both Obama and John McCain bowed to Israel's demands, vowing to veto any decision adversely affecting Israel at the UN Security Council. It was then proposed to change the name of the UNSC to “US Security Council.” During that election, Obama appeared in front of America's pro-Israel lobby AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) in Washington in order to cover up the hypocrisy of Israel and appease the Zionist lobby with many promises so as to outshine McCain who made similar promises. In this year's contest between Obama and the Republican Mitt Romney, the events of 2008 are being repeated. Obama has already addressed AIPAC at a function hosted by it in his honor. Then the Pentagon announced that it will provide $70 million as additional funding to boost Israel's missile defense system known as “Iron Dome.” This is in addition to $4 billion paid by Washington to Tel Aviv every year without any conditions. The news about this deal was further confirmed by the statement issued by US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta after his meeting with his Israeli counterpart Ehud Barak at the Pentagon in Washington, in which he said that President Obama has issued instructions to provide these additional funds for the Israeli defense system. Panetta pointed out that he had informed Barak that there will be more aid coming to Israel over the next three years. It is obvious that this is a ploy to gain the electoral support of the powerful Jewish lobby and the only question is to what extent that lobby influences US foreign policy. What are the motives that have led to the unreasonable double standard in US foreign policy to the extent that both halves of Jerusalem are considered to be the capital of Israel, the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their land occupied by Israel are not recognized, and the construction of Jewish settlements in the occupied territories is funded with the money of American taxpayers? What are the reasons and motives which prevent the US from considering Israel's usurping of the territories of Palestine, Syria and Lebanon to be an occupation? There are many people who believe that the Jewish lobby in the United States is instrumental in guiding American policy. With a little research and analysis, we can see that Jewish power inside America is the creation of Washington and that it is part of an extreme right wing policy, which is now being called “Christian Zionism”. Yet contrary to what some people believe, Jews own only 16.5 percent of both print and electronic media in the United States. Moreover, the major economic blocs in the United States are owned by Christians, with very small contributions from Jews. Israel and American Jews know this fact, and there is no doubt that successive Israeli governments know that they are executing the orders of America. They are the cat's claw on which Washington relies to achieve its goals and objectives in the Arab region as well as in Islamic countries. Everyone recalls – it was not that long ago – that the number one enemy of the West was the erstwhile Soviet Union and its Communist regime. Islam was enemy number two and enemy number three was China's economic prosperity. After the fall of the Soviet Union and its corrupt Communist ideology, Islam rose to become the number one enemy of the West and this led to the start of a modern-day crusade, especially after the events of September 11, 2001. As Israel has agreed to play the role of cat's claw, it is essential for the United States to stand beside it and support it financially, militarily, politically and socially. This is not a big secret. The existence and expansion of Israel is a must for the US so that it can be used as a base upon which to confront Islam with an advanced crusade. And this has already begun. It is sufficient to look at events in what we call the Dark Arab Autumn taking place in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon and above all Iraq.
