I carry on today where I left off yesterday. I have always said that Congress is an Israeli occupied territory, hence my preference for the Knesset. Then, I found out that someone had preceded me in exploring the idea. Prominent American journalist, author, and politician Pat Buchanan said in 1990 that Capitol Hill (where both houses of Congress stand) was an Israeli occupied territory. This is as true as saying that the sun rises in the East. But those claiming so are accused of anti-Semitism. For this reason, and before I carry on, I need to take readers back to my preference for the Knesset over Congress, and to my reference in yesterday's article and in every article in this connection to the fact that the majority of Jews in Israel and around the world are centrist Liberals, and that the Likudniks and neocons are a minority. In addition, I am quite certain that the accusation of anti-Semitism backfires on those who level it. The Anti-Defamation League is one of those radical Jewish groups that brandish the slogan of anti-Semitism against whoever accuses Israel of perpetrating war crimes. I can only say that those defending Israel's crimes, some being up to Nazi standards, are accomplices. I did not have to do much research on Buchanan's statements as the Anti-Defamation League collected them to accuse him of anti-Semitism. But, in my opinion, he is an American who loves his country. Being originally a conservative, he sought twice to run for president as the Republican Party representative. Then, he ran in the 2000 elections as the Reform Party representative and got around 450,000 votes. I content myself with what Buchanan said about Israel and its US cabal. I might be brief, as I will overlook the statements' place, day and month, although I have all the references. Thus: - “Capitol Hill is Israeli occupied territory.” (1990) - “There are only two groups that are beating the drums for war in the Middle East—the Israeli Defense Ministry and its amen corner in the United States.” (1990) - “I know the power of the Israeli lobby and the other lobbies, but we need a foreign policy that puts our country first.” (1999) - “A list of the Middle East regimes that Podhoretz, Bennett, Ledeen, Netanyahu, and The Wall Street Journal regard as targets for destruction includes Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, and militant ‘Islam'…Cui bono? Answer: one nation, one leader, one party. Israel, Sharon, Likud.” (2003) - “I believe the mistake the president is making is outsourcing American Middle East policy to Ariel Sharon.” (2004) - “Washington today is rife with reports the FBI has been investigating whether or not a nest of Pollardites in the Pentagon has been transmitting American secrets, through the Israeli lobby AIPAC, to the Reno Road embassy and to Sharon …AIPAC and the Israelis deny any spying. Cooperation between the Bush and Sharon governments is so close, they insist, that there is no need to commit espionage.” (2004) (The above words were reiterated by Buchanan on two occasions that year, and it was proven that two AIPAC members, Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman transmitted secret material from spy Larry Franklin to Israel, the issue I raised two days ago). - “Neoconservatives … Perle and Wolfowitz and Wurmser and the others, working with Netanyahu, had an agenda of war with Iraq that was going nowhere. 9/11 happens and they put this agenda before [the] president … they captured Rumsfeld, and they captured Cheney, and I think they captured the president…” (2004) - “Who would benefit from a war of civilizations between the West and Islam? Answer: one nation, one leader, one party, Israel, Sharon, Likud.” (2005) - “Neocons say we attack them because they are Jewish. We do not. We attack them because their warmongering threatens our country, even as it finds a reliable echo in Ariel Sharon.” (2005) - “If you want to know ethnicity and power in the United States Senate, 13 members of the Senate are Jewish folks who are from 2 percent of the population. That is where real power is at …” (2007) - “Israel and its Fifth Column in this city seek to stampede us into war with Iran. Bush should rebuff them, and the American people should tell their congressmen: You vote for 362, we don't vote for you.” (2008) We all say this. John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt also said it in their famous book The Israel Lobby. So had Paul Findley in his book They Dare to Speak Out: People and Institutions Confront Israel's Lobby, let alone tens of other pure Americans. I have chosen excerpts from Buchanan's statements since he is a Republican, rather a symbol of the Right. However, as he is an American who does not sell his country to Israel, he parted company with the famous war cabal. http://www.j-khazen.blogspot.com/
