Samar Yahya Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Egyptian Consulate General in Rawdah district of Jeddah marked the 39th annual celebration of the October 6 Victory Day on Friday night. The consulate invited Egyptian communities in Jeddah and neighboring cities to the celebrations, which commemorate the country's victory in the 1973 war against Israel. The celebrations began with the singing of the national anthem followed by patriotic songs composed at the time of the war. El-Alfy thanked the attendees for joining the ceremony. He said, “On this day, we recall the victory not only to celebrate it but also to adopt it as a model to follow in the new era of Egypt's progress. From my place I send all my praise and appreciation to Egypt's Armed Forces who (with God's will) achieved the triumph and saved Egypt from defeat. I also pray to the soul of the deceased President Anwar Sadat, who led the country in the 1973 war.” He also emphasized the need for joint efforts and cooperation between the consulate general and the Egyptian community. He said diplomats leaving Cairo to head Egyptian missions abroad met with President Dr. Mohamed Morsi to hear about his concern and interest in the Egyptian communities abroad.
