JEDDAH – Newly appointed Egyptian Consul General in Jeddah Adel El-Alfy held a reception for community members at his residence in Jeddah. Diplomats, heads of the Egyptian community and guests from both the Saudi and Egyptian communities attended. The discussions focused on the wellbeing of the Egyptian community and on boosting Saudi-Egyptian cooperation, especially during the upcoming Haj. Over 70,000 Egyptians will perform the pilgrimage this year. El-Alfy said he will continue the work of his predecessors to boost relations between Egyptians and Saudis under the supervision of Ambassador Afifi Abdul Wahab, who had worked in Jeddah earlier. El-Alfy called on Egyptians to communicate with the consulate to benefit from its various services. He said community cohesion was important to overcome obstacles Egyptians might face. He also emphasized the importance of complying with the Kingdom's regulations. He praised continuous governmental efforts to cut red tape before Saudi and Egyptian investors. He also shed light on the recent meeting between President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt and Saudi Minister of Commerce Tawfeeq Al-Rabia. Guests praised El-Alfy's vision for the consulate's operations that will benefit Egyptians in the western and southern regions of Saudi Arabia. They also emphasized the importance of cooperating with the newly appointed consul general to support him in his tasks and mission.
