JEDDAH — Jamaal Asad Al-Tunisi, former president of Al-Wehda Football Club in Makkah, inaugurated a training camp at Jeddah Sports Club Football Academy here recently. Speaking on the occasion Al-Tunisi said football academies produce not only better players, but also better human beings. Sports academies help the youths kick away laziness, time-wasting computer games besides developing well-rounded personalities, he added. Tunisi was Al-Wehda president for more than 10 years. They have basketball, handball, volleyball, karate and swimming teams apart from football. He said Al-Wehda gave the Saudi national team several reputed players including Osama Hawsawi. He is now playing for RSC Anderlecht in Belgium. Nasser Al-Shamrani, Essa Al-Mahyani, Mohammed Assiri, Salman Marshadi are the others who honed their skill at Al-Wahda. Earlier JSC president Kannur Abdul Rafeeq welcomed the chief guest. Saleem gave an introduction of JSC Academy, which is completing two years. Coaches Rafeeq, Saleem, Iqbal and Haneefa supervised the selection trials for new trainees. — SG
