Tahzeeb Ilyas Grade 10 International Indian School, Jeddah On Sunday, it was the 82nd national day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The day is not only celebrated jubilantly by Saudis, but by expatriates like me, too, who are born and brought up in Saudi Arabia. I really love this country, its people, culture, dresses, traditions, and especially King Abdullah, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques. On the National Day, we all went to Tahlia Street in Jeddah to enjoy. We had decorated our GMC Yukon with patriotic slogans, pictures of the Saudi King and the national flag. On the streets peoples dressed in green and white were cheering, dancing and singing with great fervor. And, seriously on days like these one can easily fall in live with the traffic. We played Arabic songs in our car and had great fun. We enjoyed this day as a Saudi does, as we believe we are not less than a Saudi. Most importantly on that day it was my birthday too. My mom doesn't allow me to celebrate my birthday as it is prohibited in Islam. However, I don't feel sad about it because I know the whole Kingdom celebrates my birthday. I would like to wish the Saudi National Day to all expats and Saudis, including King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman.
