Maher Abbas Saudi Gazette RIYADH – Modern Electronics Company, the sole agent for Sony products in Saudi Arabia, launched the latest and biggest Sony Bravia 84-inch LED TV in the Kingdom in a ceremony held at Al-Faisalia Hotel Tuesday. Prince Muhammad Bin Khaled Abdullah Al-Faisal, President and CEO of Al-Faisalia Group, officiated at the function, attended by Hiroyasu Sugiyama, Managing Director, Sony in the Middle East and Africa; Badr Al-Swailim, Managing Director, Modern Electronics Company and Makayama, Executive Sales and Marketing Manager in the company. The 84-inch Bravia TV is not just large, it is a larger TV with a resolution of 4K2K, known as the XBR-84X900. That's leagues above the Full HD standard (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) that most TVs and monitors adhere to at present. The TV also sports Wi-Fi connectivity. Noteworthy is that the Bravia 4K TV has high-quality sound as well. In fact, there are 10 speakers built into it. Finally, the 4K X-Reality PRO Engine converts, in real-time, films and videos in lower resolutions. The end result isn't the same as actual 4K footage, but the quality increase should be significant either way. This massive new TV comes with a mind boggling 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, passive 3D, and what Sony called a “10 unit live speaker system.” Hiroyaso Sujiyama, Sony Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, said “the Saudi market is the biggest market for Sony products and we have a good reputation. Hence, we are keen to make this the first market in which we introduce our products.” He said the mega screen will have a good response in the market despite its high price because it provides a distinctive service for those who seek distinctiveness and uniqueness besides the integrated technology it possesses. The 84-inch Bravia TV screen is provided with SimulView technology, which allows operation of games requiring two players without the need to divide the screen. Instead the screen displays two separate images with full clarity. The new Bravia TV set will be displayed in Centria Center in Riyadh on Oct. 3-12 and it will be available in all Sony showrooms in Saudi Arabia by the end of November.
