AL-KHOBAR – A Bangladeshi victim's family decided to forgive the Saudi killer of their son if the killer agreed to pay SR500,000 in blood money. Turki Abdullah Al-Yami, the killer, hit Muhammad Sirajul Islam with a sharp object right on his forehead three years ago in Al-Khobar. It was around the end of Ramadan of 2009. Sirajul Islam died on the spot. A source in Al-Khobar General Court said some intermediaries helped the families of the killer and victim to agree to resolve this issue. Al-Yami, who was required to pay SR500,000 in blood money, suffers from severe hearing disability. Besides, he has been having hearing and speech impairment since he was a child. The murderer's eldest brother said his brother Turki is over 40 years old, never worked and was living on charity given to him by philanthropists. He also said that Turki has nine children and he has been incarcerated ever since the murder. “In the beginning, the victim's family demanded one million Saudi riyals in blood money but later they reduced the amount to SR500,000, thanks to the efforts of some intermediaries.” The brother said Turki cannot come up with this big amount of money. He has a big family who don't have a supporter because Turki is in prison. “If we fail to come up with amount, Turki will be executed.” — SG
