The mother of a girl who was stabbed to death by her fiancé retracted her decision to spare the life of her daughter's killer, only to pardon him once more following the efforts of a judge. The mother had agreed to accept the sum of SR2 million as blood money after her daughter was murdered two and a half years ago, thereby allowing her killer to live, but during a hearing at the General Court in Jeddah she demanded he be beheaded within a month after failing to receive the first payment of the sum in the stipulated time. Upon hearing the demand, the killer's mother, Umm Wajdi, went into shock and required hospital treatment, claiming she does not have the money. The victim's mother then demanded SR5 million as the price for a second pardon, but the judge in the case refused the demand and convinced her to accept a prompt payment of SR150,000, which represents the true value of the blood money, and receipt of the remaining sum in installments, setting a new deadline for the killer's family to pay and obtain a legally irrevocable pardon. The killer was initially sentenced to be beheaded after killing his fiancée, but his family managed to find mediators who convinced the deceased girl's mother to pardon him in exchange for SR2 million.
