Ahmed Abdullah Saudi Gazette JEDDAH —Twelve firefighting units and two rescue teams were sent to contain a fire that broke out Friday at two factories that manufactured compressed sponge and aluminum sheets. The operation was supervised by Jamil Al-Arbaeen, Director General of Civil Defense in Makkah region. No casualties or injuries were reported from the fire, the cause of which was still under investigation. Meanwhile, a Sudanese woman sustained third degree burns from a fire that broke out in her first floor apartment in a four-story building. The woman was taken to King Fahd Hospital. The apartment was completely damaged in the fire, which was caused by a gas cylinder explosion, officials said. In another fire incident in the city Friday, three workers were treated for smoke inhalation after a store in southeast of Jeddah caught fire. Firefighters contained the blaze that started at a warehouse nearby. The workers were treated at the site by Red Crescent ambulances.
