Civil Defense firefighters battle to contain the fire that broke out in the industrial area of Jeddah Friday. By Abdulrahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Ten Civil Defense units were called in to battle a fire in the industrial area of south Jeddah on Friday. The cause of the fire, in which a number of warehouses were completely burned down, is still not known. Firefighters contained the blaze before it spread to other warehouses nearby, said Maj. Gen. Abdul Rahman Al-Ghamdi, acting spokesman for Makkah Region Civil Defense. Meanwhile, a huge fire that broke out on the roof of a private hospital in west Jeddah was quickly contained by firefighters. Smoke from the fire reached the ground floor of the hospital where the emergency ward and outpatient clinics operated. Civil Defense teams evacuated the ground floor before sucking out the smoke. No one was injured in the incident. __
