SRINAGAR — Police say a passenger bus has fallen into a gorge in the mountainous Indian portion of Kashmir, killing at least 15 people. At least 17 others are injured. Police officer Anil Mangotra says the driver apparently lost control at a sharp bend on a highway near Ramban, a town nearly 150 kilometers south of Srinagar, the main city in Indian-held Kashmir. The bus fell 40 meters (130 feet) into the gorge at about midnight Saturday. The injured have been hospitalized, the official said Sunday. India has the world's deadliest roads, with more than 110,000 people killed every year. Most crashes are blamed on reckless driving, poorly maintained roads and aging vehicles. — AP
