Nada Al-Maddah Saudi Gazette MAKKAH – The Makkah branch of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) on Saturday started a five-day course for tourist guides at Al-Shohada Hotel in the city. 13 trainees signed up for the course. Abdullah Al-Siwat, SCTA regional director, said this course came in line with the Commission's policy of promoting the role of tourist guides and helping them show visitors the Kingdom's archeological sites and the shining aspects of its civilization. “Trainees will be given permits by the SCTA to work in the tourism sector and leave a good impression on the visitors about their country,” he added. According to course director Khalid Aal Tauq, the participants will get to know how tourist guides work. They will also be given extensive training taking tourist groups around the city.
