Riyadh: A total of 76 tourist guides were trained last year by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), in collaboration with the Prince Sultan Tourism College. The five training courses were held in Jeddah, Dammam, Hail and Madina. Dr. Abdullah Bin Sulaiman Al-Wachail, Director General of the National Project of Tourism Human Resources Development “Takamul”, said the project was held with the Licenses Administration at the SCTA. He said the basic objective of the courses was to develop the skills of tourist guides especially in areas of communication, leadership, compiling of evaluation reports and interaction with groups. He said Prince Sultan Bin Salman, the SCTA Chairman, monitored all stages of the training courses and said the project would bear the cost of the training. He said Prince Sultan Tourism College provided technical assistance and support for the training courses by securing competent trainers who worked with the commission's trainers.
