QURAYYAT — A drunk man in his 20s attacked and injured a traffic police officer during a routine traffic stop. The officer had attempted to stop the driver after he drove through several red lights but he tried to evade capture. He eventually crashed into a police cruiser and attacked the officer, inflicting a head injury and fracturing one of his fingers. Other officers eventually subdued the man who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Bottles of liquor were found in his car and he currently in custody pending charges. — SG
