DAMMAM — A Pakistani driver of a truck transporting cars died instantly when his vehicle collided with a passenger train early Monday morning. According to the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), the incident took place at the National Guard crossing in Hofuf. All passengers and crew escaped uninjured. Muhammad Abu Zaid, director general of public relations at SRO, said the train's conductor was surprised to see the truck stuck at the railway crossing and he tried in vain to warn its driver. He added that the truck driver had forced his way through the gate and ignored all warnings and light signals. Abu Zaid confirmed that the train was able to continue it's journey and arrived at Al-Hofuf station 49 minutes late. — SG
