The Saudi Railways Organizations has warned drivers of contracting companies who are passing through railroad crossing that are not frequently used and have no movable barriers to be extra careful to avoid accident. A spokesman of SRO said the recent accident that took place at the Al-Milh railway crossing in Abqaiq was due to lack of safety observance on the part of drivers. “There are always signs on these crossing, although not often used. Drivers should always stop before crossing railroad tracks, that is the rule,” he said. Two people were injured in that accident in Abqaiq when a bus of a contracting company carrying 34 employees hit two compartments of a maintenance train. The bus driver and a laborer were seriously hurt. The rest of the 33 employees escaped injuries. The injured driver and the laborer were taken to Abqaiq Central Hospital by Saudi Red Crescent crew. Most of the passengers in the bus were laborers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Trucks crossing the Milh railway track used that passage because it is near the Saudi Aramco oil refinery. SRO has been asking Saudi Aramco to construct a flyover on the crossing linking it directly to the Saudi Aramco facilities. __
