SAUDI RAILWAYS SAID THAT AT 2:55 PM THURSDAY, PASSENGER TRAIN NUMBER 8 HEADING EAST FROM RIYADH TO DAMMAM COLLIDED WITH A LARGE TRUCK LOADED WITH SHINGLE AT A DESERT CROSSING SUPPLIED WITH WARNING SIGNS AND ARTIFICIAL BUMPS. THE RAILWAYS STATED THAT THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT KILOMETER 180/181 ABOUT 45 KILOMETERS AWAY FROM THE TRAIN IN HAFOUF STATION. THE ACCIDENT RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF THE TRAIN'S DRIVER AHMAD BIN JASIM ALZOORI AND HIS ASSISTANT IBRAHIM BIN ABDULLAH ALRASHID, BOTH ARE SAUDI NATIONALS. 15 SLIGHTLY INJURED PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN TO PRINCE SAUD BIN JELAWI HOSPITAL IN HAFOOF. AN ADDITIONAL TRAIN WAS DISPATCHED FROM HAFOUF STATION TO TAKE THE PASSENGERS TO HAFOUF STATION. THE RAILWAYS ADDED THAT IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, ANOTHER TRAIN ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 8:55 PM THURSDAY WHEN ONE OF ITS TRAINS, NUMBER 11 HEADING WEST FROM DAMMAM TO RIYADH, COLLIDED WITH A SMALL TRUCK AT ONE OF THE RAILWAYS CROSSINGS ABOUT 14 KILOMETERS FROM RIYADH STATION. THE RAILWAYS SAID THAT IN SPITE OF ALL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES AT THE CROSSING, THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK IGNORED THEM AND CROSSED INTERCEPTING THE TRAIN WHICH COLLIDED WITH THE TRUCK LEADING TO THE DEATH OF THE TRUCK'S DRIVER. THE RAILWAYS URGED PEOPLE TO ADHERE TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS TO AVOID ACCIDENTS.
