JEDDAH – Legendary Heroes Martial Arts Academy in Gold's Gym Jeddah had its 5th Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition Thursday night. Schools from all over the kingdom joined in the competition. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a self defense system that uses grappling and especially ground fighting. The competitors were from age six to adults. The competition was organized by Captain Mohammed Abbas, who established the Legendary Heroes Martial Arts Academy in March 2009, and the Saudi Committee of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, led by Captain Meteb Al-Harbi. Prince Mushhour Bin Saad Al-Saud, who is a professional martial arts practitioner, attended the competition and awarded the prizes to the winners. Mark Rency from Spider Team Jiu-Jitsu Jeddah won first place and was considered the best grappler of the meet. At the end of the competition Captain Abbas thanked Prince Mushhour for his kind presence. He also thanked Makarem Batterjee, Gold's Gym Arabia President, and thanked the General Presidency for Youth and Welfare for its supervision. These competitions are geared to teach the players the rules and means of scoring points of the sport and to be able to compete in the region. Gold's Gym is dedicated to that mission.
