A woman picnicker died in the accident. In a statement, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Saiedi, director of Health Affairs in Yanbu, the woman was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. A young girl suffered serious burns to her face but her condition was reported to be stable, he added. All the picnickers belonged to the same family. Col. Hussein Musallam Al-Jeheni, the Border Guard spokesman in Madinah, said the rescue teams contained the fire and towed the boat away from the picnickers' area. He said a Red Crescent ambulance with paramedics rushed the scene and treated people who suffered from smoke inhalation.
