Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ), an initiative of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), provided hundreds of job opportunities for young men and women during the Liqa'at exhibition, which was organized by the Ministry of Labor in the Eastern Province. During the exhibition, approximately 774 job opportunities were provided in several professions that matched the qualifications of women job seekers. BRJ revealed that is has created 23,062 job opportunities during the period January-May of this year, an increase of 7 percent compared with the same period of 2011. General Director of BRJ Female Employment, Rola Basamad, said BRJ had received hundreds of applications from job seekers who were introduced to available job opportunities at BRJ's booth at the exhibition. Basamad said job opportunities for women are available in several different fields, including nursing, customer service, management, sales and security. Basamad added that 627 females and 259 males have been employed in the Eastern Province during the period from the beginning of January to the end of May, and 3115 job opportunities throughout the Kingdom were created. Basamad highlighted the need for more practical training through specialized training courses due to the high competition in the labor market for women. According to Basamad, employers have been keen to employee women and the most common vacancies are for saleswomen, cashiers, customer support staff and production workers. In order attract and accommodate women in the workforce, companies have introduced several changes including providing transport, extensive on-the-job training and introducing a single work shift.
